How to Put Bold Text in Your Facebook Posts Without Risky Ad-Filled Websites
Want bold text, styled words, or emojis in your social posts? There’s a safer way to do it without questionable ads, fake download buttons, or unnecessary sign-ups.
The simple answer
Facebook doesn’t have a normal bold button — so people usually turn to online text generators.
The problem is that many of those free tools are loaded with aggressive ads, fake download buttons, pop-ups, and other distractions you probably don’t want.
It’s one of the questions we hear at the counter more often than you might expect: “How do people get bold words in their Facebook posts?”
Facebook doesn’t have a built-in bold button for regular posts, so most people search for a “fancy text generator” and click one of the first results.
That’s where we start to wince.
Why it matters
The problem with most “free” text tools
A lot of free text-styling websites pay their bills with aggressive advertising.
- Pop-ups that interrupt what you’re trying to do.
- Fake “Download” buttons that aren’t actually part of the tool.
- Warnings claiming your computer is infected.
- Ads that push questionable software or fake tech-support services.
Most of these ads are simply annoying. Some can be more serious.
Malicious advertising can lead to unwanted software, browser hijackers, misleading downloads, or fake technical-support scams.
Some of these sites also send whatever you type back to their own servers. That may not matter much for a birthday post, but people paste all kinds of information into these boxes.
A local alternative
A safer option, made right here in Stony Plain
Our sister company, Alchemy Imageworks, built a free tool called Social Text Lab.
We’re happy to recommend it because it keeps things simple:
- There are no ads.
- Nothing you type leaves your computer.
- There’s no sign-up.
- There’s nothing to download.
- It runs directly in your browser.
- It’s free to use.
How it works
How to use Social Text Lab in four steps
- Type or paste your post. Enter your text into the “Your Post” box.
- Highlight the words you want to style. Select a word or phrase and choose a style such as bold. If nothing is highlighted, the style can be applied to the whole post.
- Add emojis. Click an emoji and it will be inserted wherever your cursor is positioned.
- Copy your finished post. Click “Copy Post,” then paste it into Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or wherever you’re posting.
Social Text Lab also includes a few extras that come in handy: a character counter, platform-length guidance, feed preview, and a simple profile-bio tool.
One friendly tip: don’t overdo the fancy text.
Those bold-looking letters are special Unicode symbols rather than true bold text. Screen readers can sometimes read heavily styled text poorly, so it’s best to use it for short headlines or a few important words while keeping the rest of your post in regular text.
