Straight answers before you book.

Clear answers on appointments, diagnostics, turnaround, remote help, business support, pricing expectations, and what happens before any work begins.

Getting Started

Do I need an appointment?

No, walk-ins are welcome during regular hours. After-hours and Sunday appointments may also be available by request at the Silverstone location.

Where are you located?

The main location is #108, 4613 52 Ave, Stony Plain, AB. After-hours drop-off and pickup are available by appointment at 203 Silverstone Crescent, Stony Plain.

What are your regular hours?

Regular hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. After-hours service and Sunday appointments may be available by request.

Do you charge for diagnostics?

We offer free basic diagnostics so you can get a practical first answer without paying just to find out what is wrong. If your issue needs deeper testing or a more involved repair path, we will explain the next step before anything moves forward.

Do you charge extra for urgent or same-day service?

No. We do not charge rush fees. If your computer is down or your business is stuck, we treat the issue with urgency without adding an extra penalty for needing help quickly.

Pricing, Approval, and Expectations

Will you start work without my approval?

No. We explain the recommended fix and expected cost before repair work begins. Nothing moves ahead without your approval, so there are no surprise charges.

What if my device is not worth fixing?

We will tell you honestly. If a machine is too old, too damaged, or too costly to repair sensibly, we will recommend the better option, whether that is replacement, data transfer, or a simpler workaround.

How long do repairs usually take?

Turnaround depends on the issue, parts availability, and whether the problem can be solved remotely. Simple software fixes and cleanups are often faster, while hardware repairs that need special-order parts take longer. After we assess the issue, we will give you a clear expectation for next steps and timing.

Can you help even if another shop could not fix it?

Yes. Intermittent issues, older hardware, mixed software problems, and unresolved repair attempts are all worth bringing in. Even when the right answer is not to invest more money into a machine, getting a clear answer can still save you time, stress, and wasted expense.

What Alchemy I.T. Works On

What types of computers do you work on?

We service Windows PCs, Macs, custom-built computers, laptops, desktops, and mixed home or office setups. We also help with tablets, phones, controllers, password removal, hardware installation, and business networks.

Do you help with slow computers and cleanup work?

Yes. Slowdowns, startup problems, junk cleanup, software issues, malware symptoms, and general performance tuning are all core service requests. Remote cleanup is also possible when the machine still has internet access.

Do you remove viruses and malware?

Yes. Virus removal and full system cleanup starts at $120 + tax and includes malware removal, system repair, updates, and performance cleanup. We back every virus removal with our 72-hour virus-free guarantee.

Can you recover files or move data to a new computer?

Yes. Data recovery, data transfer, and new-computer setup are all highly relevant services to mention here, especially if you are dealing with an aging device, a failed upgrade, or a machine that is no longer worth repairing.

Do you help with business systems too, not just home computers?

Yes. Alchemy supports desktops, laptops, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, printers, backups, networks, remote access, and ongoing business I.T. management for local teams.

Remote and On-Site Support

Do you offer remote support?

Yes. We provide remote I.T. service for homes and businesses in the local area, and we can also help clients across North America when the issue can be handled online.

What can be fixed remotely?

Many common issues can be handled remotely, including diagnostics, software troubleshooting, virus cleanup, email setup, account problems, printer setup, updates, and performance tuning.

Is remote support secure?

Yes. We use enterprise-grade remote access software. You receive a secure link, approve the connection, and see when a session is active, so the process stays visible and controlled.

How much does remote support cost?

Remote support is billed at a standard rate of $100 CAD per hour, in 15-minute increments. Business retainers are also available if you want ongoing support and faster response times.

Do you offer on-site service calls?

Yes. We provide on-site support in Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, Acheson, Carvel, and nearby Parkland County areas for homes and businesses that need hands-on help.

Business I.T. Support

Do you offer monthly support plans for businesses?

Yes. We offer three business support plans:

  • Starter: $400/month for up to 5 hours
  • Standard: $900/month for up to 12 hours
  • Premium: $1,750/month for up to 25 hours
What is included in business support?

Business support can include proactive monitoring, backups, disaster recovery planning, network setup, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace support, cybersecurity basics, remote support, on-site visits, hardware setup, and day-to-day troubleshooting.

What happens if we use more hours than our plan includes?

Extra time is billed at the discounted rate attached to your plan, and we will let you know before additional billing occurs.

Do unused plan hours roll over?

Starter hours do not roll over. Standard and Premium hours roll over for up to one month.

Can you set up secure remote access, backups, and network security for staff?

Yes. We can help with VPNs, remote desktop access, secure cloud access, backups, recovery planning, monitoring, and network hardening for businesses.

Do business clients get fast response times?
